The Warren Central High School girls’ soccer team are North State bound after a 3-1 victory over Neshoba Central on Friday. The intense game was ultimately decided in the final minutes when both Gloria Hall and Allie Mason found the back of the net.

“I swear, they want to give me a heart attack,” WC Head Coach Jeremy Lawrence joked. “We played a solid game for 70 minutes, and then things started to open up. Sometimes, all it takes is one goal to change the entire course of the game.”

The Lady Vikes took an early lead, scoring the first goal by Jordan Polk just ten minutes into the game. However, Neshoba fought back, eventually equalizing the score at 1-1.

Both teams displayed strong defensive play, resulting in a tie game until Hall’s game winning goal with only 3 minutes and 5 seconds left on the clock.

“It felt incredible because none of my previous shots were successful, but I pushed through and hoped for the best. Luckily, it went in,” Hall expressed.

Mason scored the final goal just less than a minute after Hall.

Under the guidance of Coach Lawrence, the Lady Vikes have achieved an impressive 16-5 record.

“I would love to take credit for our success, but it’s truly the hard work and dedication of the players,”Lawrence humbly added.

WC will play again on Tuesday.
