Warren Central High School softball team had a strong start to their season, securing an 11-7 victory against Madison Central.

The game kicked off with an impressive play by Sarah Cameron Fancher, who hit a ground ball leading to Makayla Jackson scoring the first
run. However, the Lady Jaguars quickly responded, capitalizing on an error and tying the game at 1-1.

In the second inning, Warren Central took control, earning four runs. Jenn Smith’s double brought in two of those scores, giving the Lady Vikes a comfortable 5-1 lead. Madison Central
fought back, leveling the game at 5-5
after K. Simpson’s triple.

As the third inning began, Maddy Pant started strong with a double and WC eventually scored from a walk. Shortly after, the Lady Vikes scored again from a walk.

The game took a decisive turn in the sixth inning, with the score tied at seven. Smith, Pant, and Kennadi Williams each hit doubles, pushing Warren Central’s lead to 11-7 and securing the win.

Smith shined throughout the game, going 2 for 2 with three RBls. Kennadi McKay, Williams(one RBI) and Pant(two RBIs), and Morson( one RBI) all had two hits. Fancher also had one hit and one RBI while  Tyra Bridges added one RBI to the team’s success.

Pant’s pitching skills were on display, as she struck out seven batters, ultimately leading
Warren Central to victory.

The Lady Vikes will travel to face Clinton on Thursday.
