Law Enforcement Officers Reunion Held at Levee Street
VICKSBURG, Miss. – A reunion for retired law enforcement officers was held this morning at the Levee Street Warehouse here in Vicksburg.
The annual reunion was started years ago by brothers Bob and Jack Hollingsworth at their Long Lake Camp. After a couple of years it moved to the City Pavilion and then Billy Sheffield and family began hosting it at one of their properties in the county. The Sheffield/Heggins Family once again hosted this year at their property on Levee Street. The food was donated by Toney’s on 61 North.
The luncheon began with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Those who had gone on before were remembered in opening remarks by Jack Hollingsworth and Marvin Curtis. They also took a moment of silence for the police officer who was murdered in the line of duty this week. Marvin Curtis shared a story and the buffet, provided by Toney’s Seafood on 61 North, was opened.
About 60 retired deputies, officers and chiefs quickly made their way to the buffet. The assembled crowd and spouses could be seen laughing, vibrantly discussing the big calls and smiling about the good times.
