Man arrested for drive-by shooting in Madison

On July 19, 2024, through an extensive investigation, The Madison Police Department made an arrest in regards to the shooting into an occupied dwelling that occurred in the Northbay Subdivision on July 11, 2024. Roman Cortez Hines, age 38, of Jackson, MS was taken into custody without incident where he will be charged with Drive By Shooting and Shooting Into An Occupied Dwelling.

The Madison Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations executed several search warrants, where items of evidentiary value related to the initial crime was collected. The Madison Police Department would like to thank all officers involved for an exceptional job throughout the entirety of the investigation. We would also like to thank investigators with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Homeland Security Investigations, Ridgeland Police Department, Jackson Police Department, and the Ontario (Canada) Provincial Police- Highway Enforcement Team.

Roman Cortez Hines’ case will be forwarded to Madison/Rankin County District Attorney John ‘Bubba’ Bramlett for prosecution following his initial appearance in the City of Madison Municipal Court.

Hines will be housed at the Madison County Detention Center as he awaits his initial appearance.
