VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg man has been arrested in connection with an April 27 shooting that left two people injured on Arcadia Street, according to Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones.

Decorian Williams, 23, has been charged with aggravated assault with a weapon following an investigation by the Vicksburg Police Department. The incident occurred in the early morning hours, when officers responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found evidence of gunfire and later confirmed that a male victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. A female victim was also grazed by a bullet.

The Vicksburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division identified Williams as a primary suspect and took him into custody without incident. He is being held at the Warren County Jail on a $35,000 bond.

“This type of violence has no place in our community,” said Jones. “We are committed to ensuring that those who choose to resolve conflict with weapons are held fully accountable. I want to thank our officers and investigators for their swift and thorough work in bringing this case to a turning point.”

Chief Jones urges anyone with additional information about this incident or other cases to contact police at 601-636-2511.

“Community cooperation remains vital in helping us keep our neighborhoods safe,” said Jones.
