One Arrested After Jackson Firefighter Killed In Shooting

On Sunday, April 7, 2024 the Jackson Police Department began investigating a Homicide that occurred in the 200 block of Ferguson Dr.

Detectives learned that the victim was shot at this location.

Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The victim has been identified as Gerald Bates 49 years old, his next of kin has been notified.

Bates was a firefighter for the Jackson Fire Department.

The suspect Tammy Williams has been taken into custody by the Jackson Police Department SWAT team.
