Warren Central freshmen improves to 8-0 after win over Clinton

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s freshmen basketball team stayed perfect on the season Monday night after a 75-26 victory over Clinton. The win improved the Vikings to 8-0 as they continued their dominant start to the year.

Four players scored in double figures for the Vikings, who controlled the game from start to finish. Jordan Taylor led the charge with 17 points, while Ja’Ven Lee followed closely with 16. Braylen Selvy added 14 points, and Henry Trisby finished with 12. Cameron Zellous contributed six points, and Jordan Younger scored four. John Ringold, Semiko Moody and Delvin Thompson chipped in two points apiece to round out the scoring.

The Vikings will look to keep their undefeated record intact when they make the short trip across town to face the Vicksburg High freshmen team on Thursday.

On the girls’ side, the Vicksburg High Missy Gators freshmen team fell to Terry, 45-27. Keasia Hatchett led the Missy Gators with 12 points, while Kerion Cooper added six. Ny’keriah Truitt scored four points, Morgan Atkinson had two, and R. Johnson sank a free throw.

The Missy Gators will also face Warren Central on Thursday in a crosstown matchup.
