WESSON, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren Central Vikings returned from the Christmas holiday in strong form, defeating Hazlehurst 61-48 on Saturday at Co-Lin Community College.

Landen Burks led the way for Warren Central with a game-high 16 points. He was named the Player of the Game. Burks also contributed across the stat sheet, finishing with three rebounds, two assists and two steals as the Vikings controlled the tempo for much of the contest.

Deric Gibbs added 12 points while providing steady defense, recording three assists and four steals. Robert Williams chipped in nine points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Micah Moore scored eight points with six rebounds. Avery Williams contributed six points, five rebounds and two blocked shots.

Warren Central also received balanced production from its supporting cast. Davon O’Neal finished with five points, six assists, five steals and three rebounds. Jaylen Defrance added two points and three rebounds, while Trystan Fuller scored one point. Jonas Green rounded out the scoring with two points and three rebounds.

The Vikings’ defensive pressure and balanced scoring helped them pull away from Hazlehurst down the stretch, securing the 13-point victory. The win marked a successful return to action for Warren Central following the Christmas break as the team looks to build momentum heading into the remainder of the season.
