Alcorn Dominated over Mississippi Valley State in 86-39 Blowout Victory

LORMAN  – Alcorn State men’s basketball delivered a dominant performance, securing an emphatic 86-39 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Monday night at the Davey L. Whitney Health & Physical Education Complex. The Braves controlled the game from start to finish, extending their winning streak to four games while improving to 7-4 in SWAC play.

Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt led Alcorn’s balanced offensive attack with 14 points, shooting 5-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Michael Pajeaud anchored the frontcourt with 13 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Daniel Braster provided a spark off the bench with 13 points and three rebounds. Marcus Tankersley and Djahi Binet contributed 11 and eight points, respectively, as the Braves shot 54.2% from the field and dominated defensively, holding Mississippi Valley State to just 30% shooting.

Alcorn set the tone early with a relentless defensive effort, forcing 18 turnovers and scoring 21 points off those miscues. The Braves never trailed in the game and led by as many as 52 points in their most commanding performance of the season.

  • Mississippi Valley State struggled to generate any offensive rhythm, shooting just 8-for-18 (44.4%) in the second half.
  • Alcorn finished the game with 40 points in the paint and scored 12 second-chance points to maintain control until the final buzzer.
