Flashes secured a win over Vicksburg High on Tuesday
St. Aloysius staged a remarkable comeback to secure a thrilling 9-8 victory over Vicksburg High on Tuesday.
“I tip my hat to Vicksburg High because they hit the ball really well,” St. Al Head Coach Jay Harper said. Our guys never gave up and they’re starting to believe in each and getting clutch hits when needed and it turned out well.”
The game kicked off with Laken Bradley delivering a significant single in the first inning, putting the Flashes ahead with their first run. However, the Gators quickly countered with Braylon hitting a triple, leading to VHS scoring three runs following errors by St. Al. Kaleb Doss added to the scoreboard
with a run from a passed ball, giving the Gators a 4-1 advantage.
In a display of determination, the Flashes fought back in the second inning with a triple by Robert Lee and RBls from Emerson Blackburn, Carson Smith (double), and Keller Bradley, equalizing the game at 4-4. Vicksburg
High managed to regain the lead 5-4 before the inning concluded, courtesy of Mickell Jones being hit by a pitch.
The Gators extended their lead to 7-4 in the third inning after Chris Green’s double resulted in two runs. St. Aloysius responded, scoring a run from an error in the fifth, narrowing the
gap to 7-5 as the game progressed.
St. Al seized the opportunity to level the score at 7-7 in the sixth, with Smith sacrificing to bring in a run and Keller Bradley scoring on a passed ball. Vicksburg High quickly answered
when Patrick Gray Jr. smashed a single, pushing the Gators ahead 8-7 entering the seventh inning.
The thrilling final inning saw the Flashes bouncing back with a series of impactful plays, including Blackburn’s RBI that tied the game. Sadler Lambiotte capitalized on a wild pitch,
crossing the plate to give St. Al the 9-8 lead.
Keller Bradley took charge on the mound, securing the victory for the Flashes.
Evan Mallard, Robert Lee, and Keller Bradley each contributed two hits to the win, while Smith recorded two RBls and Laken Bradley added one. Smith struck out six batters, supported by Keller Bradley, who struck out four.
Vicksburg High’s Green provided a strong performance with a 2-for-4 showing, while Doss and Gray, with two RBIs, each tallied one hit. Tyler Carter struck out three batters, Green
struck out two, and Kealon Bass struck out one in the hard-fought contest.
