VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg residents can expect a stretch of hot, dry weather heading into the Fourth of July weekend, with mostly sunny skies, light winds, and heat index values climbing into the triple digits, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight, skies will be partly cloudy with a low around 72 degrees. North winds will shift to light and variable after sunset.

Thursday will bring mostly sunny conditions with a high near 93. The heat index could reach as high as 100. Winds will become north-northwest at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

For the Fourth of July, the forecast calls for sunshine and a high near 93, with heat index values pushing 101. Winds will shift from light east-northeast to north around 5 to 10 mph later in the day.

Friday night will be mostly clear with a low around 73 and calm conditions.

Saturday continues the warming trend, with sunny skies and a high near 96. Winds will be light from the east.

Officials urge residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, especially during holiday festivities.
