High heat, humid skies, and pop-up storms forecast for Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A stretch of steamy summer weather continues this week across Vicksburg, with high temperatures climbing into the 90s and daily chances for afternoon thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight, there’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9 and 11 p.m. Skies will be partly cloudy with a low around 75. Winds will remain light, shifting to the southwest overnight.
Tuesday brings the strongest chance of rain this week, with a 50% likelihood of showers and storms developing after 2 p.m. Despite the rain chances, it will be mostly sunny and hot, with highs near 92 and a heat index reaching up to 105. Winds will be light from the west.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday evening, mainly before 7 p.m., with mostly cloudy skies and a low near 73. Rainfall amounts could reach a quarter of an inch, with higher totals possible in stronger storms.
On Wednesday, patchy fog is expected early, followed by mostly sunny skies and a slight 20% chance of afternoon storms. Highs will again reach into the low 90s with calm to light north winds. The night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 72.
Thursday is shaping up to be mostly sunny, with high temps near 92 and calm winds turning northerly around 5 mph.
