VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A stretch of hot, sunny days continues across the Vicksburg area, with only a slight chance of relief coming later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight will be mostly clear with calm winds and a low around 75. Tuesday brings more intense heat, with a high near 95 and heat index values reaching up to 109. A light southwest wind will shift to the west at 5 to 10 mph by late morning. Patchy fog may develop early Wednesday morning after 5 a.m., followed by mostly clear skies and an overnight low again around 75.

Wednesday will dawn with lingering fog before 7 a.m., then turn sunny and hot with a high near 97. Winds will remain light, shifting to the south southwest at about 5 mph. The heat holds into Wednesday night, which will be partly cloudy with a low near 75.

By Thursday, a 40 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms offers a brief break from the dry pattern. Highs will top out near 95 under mostly sunny skies, with an east wind picking up around 5 mph.
