VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — After a slight chance of showers early this evening, Vicksburg enters a hot and mostly dry stretch, with rising temperatures and heat index values reaching into the triple digits, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight will bring isolated showers before 7 p.m. and patchy fog overnight, especially between 4 and 5 a.m. Otherwise, conditions will be partly cloudy with a low around 74 and calm winds. Rain chances are just 10 percent.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 95. Heat index values may climb as high as 106. There’s a slim 10 percent chance of a late-day shower or thunderstorm. Light morning winds will shift eastward around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Overnight Tuesday, skies will remain mostly clear with lows near 74 and calm conditions.

Wednesday continues the trend with sunny skies and highs nearing 96. The night will be partly cloudy, dipping again to 74 degrees. Thursday will stay mostly sunny with a high around 95 and little wind to offer relief.
