VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Thursday before conditions trend toward a hot and mostly sunny weekend across Vicksburg and the surrounding area, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight brings a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m., with increasing clouds and a low near 74. Winds will be light, shifting from north to calm overnight.

Thursday carries a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Skies will be partly sunny with a high near 92, and heat index values could reach 103. Winds will be calm before turning north around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night holds a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., followed by a slight chance of showers until around 1 a.m. Otherwise, skies will be partly cloudy with a low near 71. Light north-northeast winds will become calm overnight.

Friday is expected to be mostly sunny, with just a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Highs will reach near 93, with calm winds becoming northerly in the afternoon. Friday night will be partly cloudy, with lows around 71.

Looking to the weekend, Saturday will be sunny with a high near 95 and a slight chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Winds will remain light out of the north-northeast.
