VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Thunderstorms are expected to return to the Vicksburg area Thursday afternoon, with a high near 93 degrees and heat index values reaching as high as 108, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight brings a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 74. Winds will be calm.

On Thursday, storms are likely between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., with skies turning mostly sunny later in the day. Winds will shift to the west southwest around 5 mph. Rainfall amounts are expected to be light, though heavier pockets are possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday night carries a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m., followed by partly cloudy skies and a low around 74.

Friday will start mostly sunny with a slight chance of morning storms, but rain and thunderstorms are likely from early afternoon into the evening, with a high near 94. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Storms are expected to taper off Friday night with partly cloudy skies and a low around 75. Saturday’s forecast includes a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms with mostly sunny skies and a high near 95.
