VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg residents can expect a hot and humid weekend with temperatures climbing into the 90s and heat index values surpassing 100 degrees. Isolated storms are possible late Saturday, with more widespread severe weather expected Sunday into Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 75 and light south-southwest winds increasing to 5 to 10 mph overnight.

Saturday will be partly sunny and hot, with highs near 93 and heat index values reaching as high as 103. Southwest winds will blow at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday night brings a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Some storms could be severe. Clouds will increase, and lows will hover around 75 with gusty southwest winds up to 20 mph.

Sunday will see likely showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., with continued chances throughout the day. Some storms may be severe. The high will be near 89 with west winds at 5 to 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. The chance of rain is 60 percent.

Sunday night remains unsettled, with a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, especially after 1 a.m. Lows will be around 72.

The workweek will begin with more rain on Monday, as showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day. Highs will reach near 84, with a southwest wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
