Hot days ahead with slight storm chances by the weekend

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg is in for a stretch of hot, mostly sunny days with heat index values approaching the triple digits and only slight chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 72 and calm winds.

Thursday will be mostly sunny and hot, with highs near 91 and heat index values nearing 99. There’s a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Winds will remain calm. Thursday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 74.

Friday will bring more sunshine and heat, with a high near 93 and light southwest winds. Skies will remain partly cloudy Friday night with lows around 76.

Saturday continues the heat trend, with a high near 92. There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. Southwest winds will range from 5 to 10 mph.
