VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A stormy weekend is in store for Vicksburg, with the potential for severe thunderstorms Saturday evening into early Sunday. Heavy rain, strong winds, and isolated severe storms are possible before cooler temperatures arrive to start the week.

Tonight, skies will be mostly cloudy, with a low near 74 degrees. South-southeast winds will range from 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.

Saturday, a slight chance of showers in the morning will give way to increasing storm chances in the afternoon and evening. Showers and thunderstorms are likely after 4 p.m., with some storms potentially turning severe. Winds will be strong, reaching 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. The high will be near 88 degrees. Rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch are expected, with higher totals in thunderstorms.

Saturday night, widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected, with some storms possibly severe. The low will drop to around 59 degrees, with south winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph. Rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible.

Sunday, rain chances decrease, with a 30% chance of lingering showers in the morning. The high will be near 65 degrees under cloudy skies, with west winds at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 45 degrees. Northwest winds will be around 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Monday will bring cooler temperatures, with partly sunny skies and a high near 60 degrees. North-northwest winds will range from 5 to 10 mph, with gusts reaching 20 mph.
