Shockers win the YMCA 8 and 9-year-old girls basketball championship

The Lady Shockers took home the championship Monday after defeating the Lady Mustangs in a close 17-16 battle.

Aliyah Mims led the team in points with 11 to help the shockers bring home the victory. Presley Carr scored the first four points of the game as she played point guard most of the night. Carr scored a total of six points in the her team’s victory

The game remained close all night. Layla Johnson scored nine points for the Mustangs.

The two teams met a few weeks ago when the Mustangs came out on top, giving the Shockers their only defeat this season. But the Shockers got their revenge Monday.

The Lady Shockers are coached by Carr’s father Brandon Carr who helped the team to a 7-1 record.
