YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg native scored her first alligator kill over the weekend by taking down a 12-foot reptile at Lake George.

On Sunday night, Brooke Comans joined friends Macey Bufkin, Bailey Davidson, Jimmy Greer, Trace Huston and Mason Green for a late-night alligator hunt. For more than two hours, the group watched as the massive gator surfaced briefly before disappearing into the dark water.

The opportunity finally came when the animal rose long enough for Comans to take her shot. The kill marked her first alligator harvest.

The hunters transported the gator to Red Antler for processing. While the scale was out of order, they estimated the animal weighed about 600 pounds.
