Warren County Ravens win fourth straight PYA Super Bowl
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren County Ravens A-Team won the PYA Super Bowl on Saturday, continuing their run of dominance with a 13–6 victory over the Canton Jaguars. The win marks the fourth consecutive year the Ravens have claimed a championship under head coach Harold Knight.
“It was a bittersweet moment because before we started winning four years ago we lost every game that year,” Knight said. “We’re now trying to keep the momentum going for what we’ve been doing.”
Tallulah native Melvin Russell powered the offense in Saturday’s title game, scoring both Ravens touchdowns. His first score came on a 58-yard run that gave Warren County an early boost. Russell delivered the final blow with just four seconds remaining, breaking free for a 24-yard touchdown to secure the championship.
The Ravens’ defense was also crucial in the win. Ayeden Scott, Jaylen Wright, Derrick Allen Jr. and A’Derrien Payne each contributed key sacks that helped keep Canton’s offense under pressure. Offensively, Samuel “Dinky” Jackson, Shandell Lockridge Jr. and Russell all made significant plays throughout the night.
Saturday’s Super Bowl win followed the Ravens’ AFC Championship victory, a 6–0 defensive battle against the Next Level Ducks. Russell scored the lone touchdown in that matchup as well, while Kaleb Sims had multiple touchdowns called back due to penalties.
The Ravens are coached by a productive staff led by Knight. Assistant coaches include Corey Perkins, Prentiss Magee, Troy Rogers, Shandell Lockridge Sr. and Steve Snow.
