VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warm, humid weather with scattered afternoon thunderstorms will mark the forecast for Vicksburg through midweek, including Juneteenth. Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 90s each day, with heat index values nearing triple digits, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight, there’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 a.m. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, with a low around 73 and south winds around 10 mph.

Tuesday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, with a 40 percent chance of showers and a few thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. The high will reach near 89, but it may feel as hot as 99 due to humidity. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Overnight Tuesday, skies clear somewhat, with a low around 74 and steady south winds.

Wednesday and Juneteenth will follow a similar pattern—mostly sunny skies and continued chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Highs will hover between 92 and 93 degrees. Rain chances both days stand at 30 percent.

South to southwest winds will persist throughout the period, offering little relief from the rising temperatures. Forecasters advise residents to stay hydrated and watch for fast-developing storms in the afternoon hours.
