Hot weekend in Vicksburg leads to stormy Memorial Day forecast

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg residents can expect a hot and mostly sunny weekend with highs near 90, but storm chances increase significantly by Memorial Day, bringing the threat of heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 71 and calm winds.
Saturday will be mostly sunny and hot, with a slight 20 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Highs will reach near 90 with south-southwest winds around 10 mph. Saturday night will remain mostly clear with a low around 72.
The hot weekend weather continues on Sunday with highs near 91 and a 30 percent chance of afternoon storms. Sunday night brings increasing cloud cover and a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low near 72.
Memorial Day will be wet, with showers likely early and storms becoming more widespread after 7 a.m. Some of the storms may produce heavy rainfall. The high will be near 85 with an 80 percent chance of rain.
Showers and thunderstorms remain possible Monday night, with a 50 percent chance of rain and a low around 70.
