Scott Leaving WC to play in the German Football League

VICKSBURG, Miss. – Vicksburg native Jeff Scott will soon be leaving his assistant football coaching position at Warren Central and heading overseas to play in the German Football League. Scott recently received the call of a lifetime to continue his football career with the Hamburg Pioneers.
“This was very unexpected because I switched my focus to training people and coaching but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity,” Scott said.
Scott officially received the news last Thursday just a short time after finishing his inaugural coaching season.
Back in June, Scott was hired by Warren Central head coach Josh Morgan to assist with the wide receivers. The Vikings finished with 1,413 receiving yards for the 2024 season, as well as playing in North State Championship, their first time in 30 years.
“Coaching made me realize it’s really a blessing to work in the Vicksburg-Warren School District, because I was able to be a role model at a young age, but I felt the impact fast,” Scott said. “Being with Josh and Rob Morgan showed me what it is like to have a family, and coaching was more than telling people what to do because everything was like a family.”
Scott has already signed his contract with the Hamburg, Germany team and will leave in late April to start his professional football career. He will be playing defensive back and returner.
“I’m just grateful for this opportunity and I want to use it to one day upgrade to a chance in the NFL,” Scott added.
Scott starred as a wide receiver at Vicksburg High School before playing at Melbourne Central Catholic in his senior year. He went on to play at Copiah-Lincoln Community College before earning a starting spot in the secondary at Alabama State University where he caught the game-winning interception against Jackson State.
In his final collegiate year, Scott transferred to Miles College before launching his coaching career.
It won’t be long before fans can witness Scott back in action on the football field.
