Softball tournament raises nearly $2,000 for Micah’s Mission

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The 1st Annual Micah’s Mission Benefit Softball Tournament was held over the weekend at Key City Park in Vicksburg, bringing together community support, competitive softball, and a cause that matters.
The event was a partnership between the Fastpitch America Softball Association (FASA), Key City Park, and Micah’s Mission Learning Center, a nonprofit school. Five 18U teams participated: LA Bombsquad of Monroe, Rip Tide MS and MS Pirates of Vicksburg, LA Rage-Flynt of Rayville, and NOLA Fastpitch White of New Orleans.
Key City Park donated the use of its fields for the weekend, while FASA State Director Mike Foley helped promote the event. In a show of generosity, the park allowed Micah’s Mission to keep 100% of the gate proceeds and team entry fees, helping raise nearly $2,000.
On the field, LA Bombsquad defeated Rip Tide MS 7-0 Sunday morning to advance to the championship game. Rip Tide MS battled back through the losers bracket to earn a rematch. They led 1-0 midway through the fourth inning thanks to a strong pitching performance by Hallie Grace Malone and solid team defense. However, Bombsquad rallied with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and held on for a 2-1 win.
The tournament offered not only fierce competition but also a reminder of the power of community. Every dollar raised supports Micah’s Mission School and its commitment to providing specialized education for students in need.
