WC crushed Pearl 13-3; Missy Gators fell short to Florence

Warren Central High School softball team improved to 6-2 on the year after defeating Pearl 13-3.

The Lady Pirates struck first with a run early in the first inning but the Lady Vikes responded after two steals to go up 2-1. WC picked up seven runs in the second inning when MK Ferguson and Tyra Bridges both hit doubles to put runs on the board. Makayla Jackson, Jenn Smith, and Adalyn Anderson all grabbed hits before the inning was out.

Late in the game, Jackson hit an RBI and a late walk earned WC the 13-3 run-rule win.

Bridges went 3 for 3 with three RBIs while Ferguson(1 RBI), Kamryn Morson(1 RBI), Anderson, Smith(1 RBI), Jackson(1 RBI), and Sarah Cameron Fancher(1 RBI) all had one hit.

Freshman KeKe McKay struck out five batters in the win.

Other games:

Vicksburg High fell short to Florence 20-7. At one point in the game, VHS had a 6-2 lead after a solid double from Zion Harvey and RBIs from Harmony Harris and Trinity McGloster. Multiple hits by Florence in the fourth and sixth inning forced a comeback as they took home the win.

Zion Harvey went 2 for 4 with one RBI while Amari Johnson and Lili Kistler both had one hit. Harmony Harris finished the night with two RBIs.
