Winter Storm Watch Remains in Effect from Late Monday Night Through Tuesday Evening
VICKSBURG, Miss. – The National Weather Service has stated that the Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday evening with total snow accumulation up to 4 inches possible. Snow fall for Tuesday morning is currently predicted at a 60 percent chance.
- WHAT…Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations up to 4 inches possible.
- WHERE…Portions of northeast Louisiana and central and south Mississippi.
- WHEN…From late Monday night through Tuesday evening.
- IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Due to the very cold temperatures well below freezing, treacherous road conditions will develop where heavy snow accumulates. Travel impacts will likely continue well beyond the end of the snow.
This evening’s forecast is clear, with a low around 18. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Monday, January 20, 2025 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) is expected to be sunny, with a high near 38. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. In the evening, forecasters are calling for a 20 percent chance of snow showers after midnight. Increasing clouds, with a low around 21. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Vicksburg Daily News is monitoring the current situation and will update any changes to the current Winter Storm Watch.
In a press release on Friday, the Vicksburg Warren School District announced that the district is monitoring the weather and will make a school closing decision on Monday.
