Four Named Captains of St. Aloysius Flashette Dance Team
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)— Olivia Larsen, Hayden Bell, Elizabeth Bednar and Farrell Roberson have been named captains of the St. Aloysius Flashette Dance Team. Under the direction of head coach Chesley Lambiotte, the Flashettes have achieved tremendous success over the years.
The program placed eighth in the nation when this senior class were freshmen and has since grown into a 10-time state championship team. Last school year, they finished fourth in the nation in the kick category and are now aiming for their 11th state title.
“We really appreciate Mrs. Chesley because she’s so dedicated to us and she’s always there, even if it’s not about dancing,” the captains said.
Olivia Larsen
Larsen began dancing at age 2 and is now a multi-sport athlete and leader at St. Aloysius. She serves as Flashette captain, plays basketball and tennis, and participates in the school musical. As captain, her responsibilities include setting the standard for performance and teamwork.
“I’m really excited because for the past four years this has been everything we’ve talked about, and the time has come,” Larsen said.
A standout athlete, Larsen scored 14 points in a 37–26 win over Humphreys Academy last December. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Mississippi to study medicine, with aspirations of becoming either an orthopedic surgeon or an anesthesiologist.
She is the daughter of Rusty and Stephanie Larsen and is a proud dog lover with three at home.
Hayden Bell
Bell, who has been dancing since she was 18 months old, brings years of experience and enthusiasm to her new leadership role.
“I’m very excited to help lead the team throughout the season and to Nationals,” she said. “I want to help our team grow closer together, and our goal is to win Nationals.”
As a captain, Bell is responsible for upholding high standards and holding her teammates accountable. She also serves as SGA Class President and is involved in the school musical.
Bell plans to attend Mississippi State University and major in speech pathology. She is the daughter of Matthew and Haley Bell.
Elizabeth Bednar
Bednar has been a member of the Flashettes since her freshman year and was selected as captain due to her strong leadership and team-first mentality.
“I’m really excited to be able to encourage the younger ones,” she said. “When we were freshmen it was a scary experience, so I want to encourage them to be their best.”
Bednar’s primary role as captain is to foster team unity and ensure every dancer feels a sense of accomplishment, regardless of competitive outcomes.
In addition to her role on the dance team, Bednar is involved in quiz bowl, the math and science team, and ranked in the top 10 percent in chemistry during her freshman year. She plans to study either physics or chemistry in college. Bednar also made a 35 on her ACT.
She is the daughter of Dr. Anthony and Amy Bednar.
Farrell Roberson
Roberson, a veteran on the team, takes on her captaincy with pride and passion.
“I’m very excited because it’s more than dance — it’s more like a sisterhood,” Roberson said. “I’m super ready for this year, especially after our camp performance. Everyone seems to be all in.”
She is also a member of the Lady Flashes basketball team, where she averaged 8.6 rebounds per game last season. Roberson follows in the footsteps of her older sister, Maggie, a former Flashette.
“I decided to follow in her footsteps because I’m always looking up to her,” she said.
A twin and dog lover, Roberson plans to attend Ole Miss after graduation to pursue a career in the medical field.
She is the daughter of Marion and Ann Roberson.
