VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The St. Aloysius baseball season ended after a 9-3 loss in game two against Columbia Academy on Thursday. The Flashes ended things with a successful 17-14 record and a trip to the second round of the playoffs under Head Coach Jay Harper.

“I feel we ended on a high note and I want to thank my coaching staff and these three seniors because they started paving the way for this baseball program,” Harper said. “It’s always tough to say goodbye but it’s never a goodbye, it’s a see you later.

The Flashes were down 9-0 late in the game before getting on the board in the sixth after a single from Keller Bradley. Their final two runs came from a double that Bradley nailed but Robert Lee was caught at third base which ended the game.

Bradley went 2 for 3 with three RBIs. He also struck out four batters. Clark Hobson and Carson Smith each had a hit in the loss.

Despite tonight’s loss, St. Aloysius earned their first winning record since the 2021 season. They will graduate Hobson, Smith, and Laken Bradley. The three seniors played a heavy role in helping the team not only complete a winning season, but also becoming district champions for the first time since St. Aloysius entered MAIS.

Before facing Columbia Academy, the Flashes defeated Silliman Institute in the first round in games two and three.

“I’m proud as I can be and these guys showed that there’s no quit in them and that we’ll never give up,” Harper added.
